You have a gorgeous backsplash in your kitchen. The ceramic tiles  gets compliments from everyone who comes to visit. You’re very proud of it and love it to pieces. Except that’s the problem, one of your tiles is in pieces. How do you replace a broken tile? Well, there are a few easy steps.

First, you need to remove the grout around the tile with a grout saw or a dremel tool. This will take awhile to do since you don’t want to damage any surrounding tiles.

Once the grout is removed, cover the tile in a cloth and use a hammer to gently break the tile into pieces and remove it from the wall. Be sure not to cut yourself, these pieces can be sharp! With a chisel, remove all of the adhesive from the wall and clean the area behind the tile. Be sure to get it all otherwise the new tile adhesive won’t stick.

Once you have a clean area to work with, apply adhesive to the new tile and apply it to the prepared surface. You’ll have to look at the packaging on the adhesive but usually you need to let this sit for 24 hours before you apply the grout.

Apply the grout and clean the surrounding tiles.

Voila! You’ve got your beautiful ceramic tile backsplash back!
