Pakistan Do Preliminary on Anti-dumping Case About Imported Ceramic Tiles from China.

In February, Pakistan’s domestic ceramic companies submit an application about the anti-dumping investigation to Tariff Commission of Pakistan, called for an anti-dumping investigation of ceramic imported from china. Pakistan ceramic enterprises claimed that as the influx of cheap Chinese ceramic tiles, the amount local ceramic enterprises production of market share went down from 44% in 2002 down to 28% in 2005, corporate profit margins decreased from 39% to 17%. Accordingly, the Palestinian side believes that China ceramic tiles entered had an neative impact on the country’s similar industrial’s workers employment and others. While the report from the Chinese Customs statistics reveal that the output value of Chinese exports to Pakistan tiles increased from $749,900 in 2002 to $12,560,900 in September 2005.

On April 5, 2014, the Pakistan Tariff Commission issued an notice on imported ceramic tile(the State Customs Tariff No.6907.1000, 6907.9000, 6908.1000, 6908.9010 and 6908.9090) to make a preliminary on anti-dumping investigation. The decision imposed a four-month provisional anti-dumping duty at the rate of 0 to 40.49& on ceramic tiles imported from China. Pakistan investigating authorities will make an final ruling from the date of the preliminary determination in the four months.
