Ceramic tiles, both glazed and unglazed, are long lasting and easy to maintain. Daily removal of debris by vacuuming or mopping will help your floors stay looking great. Here are a few tips to help you keep your tile flooring in top condition using homemade cleaners.

Unglazed ceramic tiles generally require frequent mopping to remove any dirt and stains. Any spills should be mopped up immediately with a damp cloth. To remove stains, mix some vinegar and baking soda, apply the mixture to the stained areas, and scrub the area with a toothbrush. A drop of peroxide can be added to the mixture to combat stubborn stains. Leave the mixture for 15 minutes, then remove and rinse with water. Shaving cream can also be effective.

Glazed ceramic tiles can be easily cleaned using a damp cloth. A homemade mixture of baking soda, ammonia, white vinegar and water can be sprayed onto the tile flooring and wiped clean with a damp sponge.

If you have large areas of discolored ceramic tiles, consider hiring professionals that have steam and vaporized equipment, which can give your floors a deep clean and thoroughly remove grease, oil, dirt and old.
