EU Anti-dumping Ceramic Continues, Part of Enterprises Give up the European Market(9/18/2011)

Recently, China Ceramic Industrial Association claimed that the biggest ever anti-dumping investigation---the EU anti-dumping ceramic cases announced the final result on September 15. 6 enterprises got an individual tax rate ranging from 26.3 to 36.5 percent. More than 100 enterprises involved in the investigation of the weighted average rate of 30.6%. Others are levying punitive tariffs of 69.7%, valid for up to five years. According to reports, in June 2010, the EU investigates tiles originated from China. Involving more than $ 320 million, almost all the well-known ceramics enterprises are involved, of which more than 80% of Foshan ceramic enterprises.

In March, the EU released the preliminary results of tile anti-dumping. Punitive tariffs rate is up to 73%, which caused strong resentment among the domestic ceramic industry. from the view of the final result, the change of the individual tax rate changed only a little The preliminary weighted average tax rate decreased from 32.3% to at 30.6%. However, the punitive tariffs decreased only from 73% to 69.7% fine. Ceramic enterprises that did not participate in the survey of all enterprises are levied this tax.

It is believed that only 3 points decreased in the preliminary results will still be a hit on the ceramic enterprises. Some ceramic enterprises have begun to consider giving up the European market.

Foshan Ceramic Industry Association, Hong Yin believes that the EU export market accounts for only a small part of Chinese ceramics market, China's exports to the EU products ceramic enterprises accounted for only 1% of its total production. The high punitive tariffs is serious for individual enterprises. But for the Foshan ceramics industry, It affects Foshan only about 30 million square meters. This number will not make a disaster of the ceramic industry.
