EU New Regulation, building material should be less than 0.01% concentration of cadmium(3/18/2011)

For health and environmental considerations, the EU Council of Ministers has passed a bill to further restrict the use of cadmium in PVC and sales.

New bill has been written to the EU REACH chemical control laws and regulations. According to a communiqu�� issued by the Council of Ministers said the new bill conforms to the "To further protect the environment and human health, the recent scientific research shows the process of any new regulations need to add the results of cadmium taken into account in the"requirements.

EU Council decision-making process in the new Act made a fast-track, once raised any objections to the European Parliament, the bill will be shelved, but is not expected to happen. New law also provides for artificial jewelry, beads, hair, brooches and cufflinks and other products made of plastic available Cd concentration in the weight ratio of no more than 0.01%.

As for PVC, the new Act provides for sales of plastic products in the European Union in the cadmium content of no more than 0.01% by weight of plastic material. As for the plastic with a mixture made of PVC waste, the new bill to relax some building products 0.1% limit, but the products must be marked with the logo to remind containing PVC waste.

These include building profiles and rigid plate; doors, window panels, walls, baffles, fence and roof drains; decorative panels and colonnades; cable ducts; non-potable water piping, if controlled PVC PVC is used to contain cadmium (or not more than 0.01%) as a multi-layer insulation pipe lining. The first new law into effect in April, after selling all PVC will have 6 months of the transition.
